TQM tested the Mercedes eActros 600 electric truck: real-life experience from operation in Opava

12. 8. 2025

From July 28 to August 8, 2025, we at TQM had the opportunity to test the new Mercedes eActros 600 electric truck. In the first phase of testing, it was used for transport in Opava for our business partner Mondeléz, and we then verified its use on longer routes within domestic transport.

Emissions savings in practice

On our traditional route between the TQM Logistics Center and the Mondeléz plant in Opava (10 km), the use of the eActros led to a 19% reduction in CO₂ emissions, which means a saving of 1.4 kg of CO₂ per trip compared to a diesel-powered vehicle (one way).

Technical highlights and test results:

  • Average consumption: 90 kWh/100 km, less than the average of other companies that tested the eActros 600 (91.4 kWh/100 km)
  • eAxle: the vehicle contains a compact unit combining an electric motor, converter, and four-speed transmission
  • Range: up to 500 km without recharging
  • Batteries: 3 sets, each with a usable capacity of 200 kWh, weight of one set 1,500 kg
  • Battery life: up to 1.2 million km
  • Charging: standard charging, but also the option of megawatt charging to significantly reduce charging time Safety features: side impact protection, fire protection

Driver's practical experience:

"I got used very quickly, I played around with the recuperation and settings, learning how everything works. The biggest challenge for me was the transition from conventional mirrors to integrated cameras. The truck had the same performance on flat terrain and uphill, and the cab was surprisingly quiet," says Mr. Vícha, a driver who tested the eActros for two whole weeks.

Vehicle presentation
On the final day of testing (August 8, 2025), we organized a presentation of the eActros 600 at the Mondeléz plant, attended by representatives of TQM, Daimler Truck Czech Republic, and Mondeléz. The presentation included details of the design, battery technology, and practical insights from operation. This was followed by a tour of the cab and our driver sharing his experiences.

Why are we testing?

We want to know the limits and possibilities of this technology firsthand and give our drivers the opportunity to try out new technologies in practice.

We would like to thank Daimler Truck Czech Republic for lending us the eActros 600 vehicle and Mondeléz for their cooperation in deploying it in real-world operations.
