TQM testing the Iveco E-Way electric bus: verifying the real potential of electromobility

28. 2. 2024

TQM - holding s.r.o. (TQM) has started testing the Iveco E-Way electric bus in order to obtain relevant data and experience from the operation of the electric bus in real conditions.

The Iveco electric bus, designated as E-Way full electric, is a 12-metre long low-floor bus with air conditioning and batteries with a total capacity of 325 kWh. This bus was provided to TQM for testing by KAR group, a.s. From February 22 to March 7, 2024, the electric bus will be tested on different routes to evaluate its performance and capabilities in different operations.

With 26 seats + 1 seat for the driver, space for invalid wheelchair and baby stroller, standard equipment such as LCD panels for passenger information, the electric bus is a comfortable and functional alternative to traditional vehicles.

In the first phase of testing, the electric bus will operate on the Opava-Vávrovice, Opavia-Krnov line, which is used to provide transport services for Mondeléz employees. Subsequently, it will be deployed to serve line 5 of the Valašské Meziříčí public transport system, after agreement with the city of Valašské Meziříčí.

"One of the key elements of the test is to verify the actual range of the vehicle in operating conditions, the recharging capability and the time for recharging the batteries. These values will be important for future route planning and traffic optimisation," says Stanislav Brožek, Director of Passenger Transport at TQM.

For TQM, the testing is an opportunity to objectively evaluate the benefits and limitations of this type of transport.
